My opinion on the book Hush hush, by Becca Fitzpatrick is that is it a very well written book. For the most part, characterization was interestingly done. The main protagonist Nora Grey is certainly different, but at times some of her reactions were a little odd and unreasonable. (Personally, I wonder if it would have been better to situate her as a junior, rather than a sophomore.) Her sudden turn of affections for Patch was a little sudden which seemed to steer more in the direction of lust than love. But on the other hand, I feel that Hush, Hush has a strong resemblance to the Twilight series, written by Stephenie Meyer. Now if an author can ride on Meyer’s coattails and have an original idea and really make it shine, I’m all for that. But in the case of Hush, Hush, I’m afraid to say that Becca has not only ridden on Meyer’s coattails, but hopped on her back and took every single thing from Twilight and placed it in Hush, Hush. The comparisons between Twilight and Hush, Hush are too strong not to ignore and honestly, Hush, Hush reads like a Twilight fan fiction where Becca decided to change the characters and a bit of the plot that fails in so many ways. If you’re going to take someone else’s idea and try to build on it, at least be smart about it. My reasons to back up my accusation vary. James, from Twilight, was Edward's enemy and wanted revenge. He wanted to get this revenge by making Bella, Edward's true love, suffer.  This is almost the exact same as Jules, from Hush hush, Patch's enemy, seeking revenge on Patch. Then wanting to get this revenge by making Nora, Patch's true love, suffer. Hush, Hush is a rehash of Twilight plain and simple. Examples such as: Nora and Patch are partners in Biology class. Oddly enough, Bella and Edward are Biology partners as well. Patch being dark, mysterious and dangerous, yet Nora can’t stay way. Nora lists attributes in regards to Patch much like Bella did with Edward, where she comes to these conclusions what Patch is. Nora is placed time and again in danger because of her own stupidity and her interactions and constant obsessing over Patch. Need I go on? But similarities aside, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. There was plenty of tension and chemistry, as well as biology, between Nora and Patch. A plethora of mind games and mysterious happenings heightened the drama and danger. But, I feel Nora is a much more appealing heroine than Bella, which makes the reader worry about her more and root harder for her to survive and thrive. My conclusion to this is that, I really enjoyed reading this book, but it felt like I had already read it, because I had already read the whole Twilight series.
